Joy (Reception) Class & Home Learning
Welcome to Joy Class!
My name is Ms Adesina and I am the reception class teacher, in the class we also have Mrs Williams who is the teaching assistant. Over the next few weeks the children will be settling into school and getting to know their new classroom and teachers. We will be getting to know your child as they engaged in different activities both adult and child led. We are looking forward to helping the children settle into school and supporting their growth.
In reception the children will be developing their skills in the seven areas of learning which are Mathematics, Literacy, Physical, Personal Social and Emotional, Understanding The World, Expressive Arts and Design and Communication and Language. The children will cover a variety of different topics and books through the Power of Reading scheme.
Our Topic
During the Spring term, we will be covering two books which are Blue Penguin and Yucky Worms. This will allow the children to talk about and share how to express, recognise and manage emotions, both our own and recognising and responding to others feelings. Yucky Worms will give the children the opportunity to research all about worms.
Reading
Children are expected to read at home every day for 10 minutes, books will be changed weekly. Please ensure you sign reading records once you have heard your child read. You can support your child with their reading by talking about the illustrations and asking questions about the book.
Homework
Homework will be set every Friday on Google Classroom, it will normally be an activity based on what we have been learning in class. Please make sure homework is completed by Tuesday.
PE
PE is on a Thursday afternoon, children are expected to come to school dressed in their PE kit. Which is a white top with black joggers/red shorts and trainers. Please ensure earrings are removed for PE. This half term we will be developing our movement skills.
I look forward to your continued support.
